PROLEGOMENON

DELEGATES

Delegation, or a Delegate, is the title granted to mimeo when they reach an appropriate age, typically at full maturity. These mimeo are assigned groups of peers, all of whom are competing to embody their potential future title better than the rest of the group. Upon maturity, one mimeo is chosen to be a Delegate, and the rest are sent to colonies.

The title of Delegate indicates ones abilities, both passive through embodiment and active in capabilities that manipulate the world around them. The formula is as follows:

Delegate of Freedom & Sincerity

(In the above example, 'Freedom' is what the Delegate brings into the world, and 'Sincerity' is how the Delegate accomplishes this.)

A great deal of these Delegate titles is tied to the religious beliefs of the mimeo people, though the rigidity and required ceremonies and competition to achieve one doesn't seem to be backed up by the titles themselves - for example, Hedo had been Delegated before ae had reached maturity, due to a political emergency. Additionally, Dolo - despite not ceremoniously being Delegated - still embodies her self-granted Delegate title, Freedom & Trust.

Another example is the fact that, during the events of PROLEGOMENON, the players - despite being human - are granted Delegate status, albeit it is mistranslated (Lyss explains that even the words 'Delegate' isn't totally accurate to what the titles mean). The legitimacy of their Delegation is a debate between the mimeo as they work on breaking the human players out.

In mimean society, Delegates all lost their powers one day, which led to mass panic and a total collapse of their civilization.
