Roy Miller (not to be confused with Ace) is a young human man living in UV-00282 New York.
He has short, fluffy brown hair, and uses two blue clips to keep his bangs pinned out of his face. He also has blue eyes, for which he is the only member of the 'main' cast of PROLEGOMENON to have blue eyes. His skin is pale, and he has a pointed face, a small nose, and is commonly depicted wearing a blue baggy sweater over a very light blue button-up shirt. Roy is also one of the shortest people among his friends.
Online, he uses the screen name 'roy! :D', and tends to type in lowercase but with plenty of emoticons and exclamation points. His icon is the blue silhouette of a pilot's cap and goggles.
In December of 2020, Roy and his friends play a mobile game, which evolves into the events of PROLEGOMENON. Roy, in his curiosity by being granted access to the game shortly before intended playtime, decided to launch the game to ensure it would work as expected on his phone.
PERSONALITY
Roy is shown to be upbeat, optimistic, and friendly, though he exhibits signs of anxiety and a tendency to melt down into tears when he encounters obstacles. He cares for his friends, though he comes off as an airhead on occasion. When arguments crop up, he is the first to dismiss himself from them, and clearly does not enjoy conflict, opting to instead go along with the group or remove himself from the discussion rather than present any ideas of his own. He does seem to be a creative artist, which he alludes to when trying to determine what gift to get Diego Suaviter, but he never shows his art to his friends or family. This makes him act a bit like a yes-man, especially in the early stages of PROLEGOMENON.
He has a clear interest in airplanes and flight, as seen by the cloud stickers and airplane posters on his walls in his bedroom. One of his favorite games is a torrented copy of Birdwings, although he sucks at the Hummingbird level. A gift from his father, Toby the teddy bear, also wears a pilot's cap. Roy also spends his time watching speedruns of Geoguesser, which he says he'd like to do himself but isn't confident enough to try yet.
Through implications and discussions, it's implied Roy suffers heavily from a traumatic upbringing from his father, which causes his anxiety spikes and lack of confidence. Despite this, he doesn't acknowledge the abuse he and his older siblings experienced at the hands of their father, instead either outright denying it happened or dismissing its severity (at least, until a very important conversation).
TIMELINE
Pre-PROLEGOMENON
Roy was born in July of 2001 to two unnamed parents, his mother whom would either die or leave not long after, rarely coming up in Roy's mind. His father raised him and his older siblings, where the three lived in a difficult household. Roy did his best to keep the peace and avoid any arguments himself, which led to him growing up with a very passive personality, only wanting to appease the people around him.
Despite his best efforts, Roy is left friendless and concerningly lonely, which led to Rhett adding him to the group chat and introducing him to the rest of the players when Roy is 13. It's also around this time that Roy comes out as transgender.
When Roy turned 15, his older siblings had turned 18, which meant they were moving out of the house. Rather than leave Roy to be raised by his father alone, they decided to ask for custody of Roy, and were granted legal guardianship around this time. Roy, still not entirely understanding what their father had been doing through a combination of being protected from it by Rhett and Reed plus an inability to recognize his own emotions due to his upbringing, found this to be upsetting and attempted to reconnect with his father behind his sibling's backs. At some point, they discovered this and acted to cut contact between the two.
PROLEGOMENON
Roy is the main focus of Episode 1, trying to find a birthday present for Diego after realizing he'd forgotten to get anything for it. He has a minor meltdown before Reed gives him a gift card to give to Diego, for which Roy thanks em. Cherry Thaxton shares a download of mew's game that mew had built with Amada Trejo, and Roy decides to test it on his phone to ensure it would work as expected. The game appears to crash his phone and teleport him to a different world - Dodecastratum, the setting of the game.
In Episode 2, Roy makes appearances, though he doesn't have a dedicated section to focus on him like the first episode. He primarily chats with the other players through their chat client, Amity.

RELATIONSHIPS
Rhett Miller
Rhett is Roy's older brother. The two were raised together, though Roy never seemed to realize or notice Rhett's protection of him from their father. This misunderstanding leads to some friction in their relationship, since Roy interprets these attempts at shielding him as taking his freedom and refusing to acknowledge his maturity. He feels babied by Rhett, and it frustrates him, though he doesn't know how to express that.
Despite this, Roy looks up to his brother, going to him for guidance and thinking highly of him. They grow closer after their discussion in Episode 4.
Reed Miller
Reed is Roy's older sibling, and Roy takes after em more than Rhett. The two are close, with Roy thinking of Reed as the best big sibling anyone could ask for. They don't seem to have the friction Rhett and Roy have, though sometimes Roy talks to Reed about it, and Reed is reluctant to discuss it with him.
Roy gets his upbeat attitude from Reed, though he's much more tense than em.
Albus
Albus is Roy's guide in the game of SEED. Roy tries to match their proper energy by being polite whenever Albus is around, and mostly just wants to impress them. He's grateful that they're willing to be there whenever and wherever he needs them - forgetting the fact that doing this is their entire function.
In the later episodes of PROLEGOMENON, Albus and Roy grow closer, especially as rifts form in the group and Roy withdraws from his friends. He thinks they're interesting and sincere, and grows an affection for them that influences him to value their input over Rhett and Reed.
The Players
Due to the circumstances Roy was added to the group, which are implied in the conversation he and Rhett have in Episode 4, Roy is polite and kind to those in the group, but feels very distant from them and doesn't often go out of his way to directly message anybody. He'll always answer a DM, but it's rare that he initiates spending time with the others.
After Sofia Suaviter's attempted bombing in Episode 3, Roy appears to side with Sofia, though this is a subject he tries to avoid discussing and appears to have been influenced by Rhett's feelings on the situation. He refuses to fight with the team when the Empty White Dawn spawns.
TRIVIA
Roy is described as a twink by Cherry, but he doesn't label himself this way.
