Albus is one of the two guides in a typical game of SEED, and is the precursor to the Empty White Dawn.

Their head is round, with a circular, black screen acting as a 'face', resembling an astronaut's helmet. On the screen is typically displayed a set of yellow lines, simplistically representing bangs, eyebrows, and eyes. Two yellow 'horns' / antenne come out of both sides of their head, symmetrically meeting in the center with a white orb between them. Albus wears a yellow sweater over a white button-up shirt, with a blue tie tucked neatly into their sweater. Their pants are blue slacks, and they wear yellow loafers. They commonly look annoyed.

Albus spawns in at the beginning of the game, acting as the guide who greets Roy Miller when he initially launches SEED in December of 2020. From then on, Albus guides the following players:

PERSONALITY

At the beginning of PROLEGOMENON, Albus is very direct, telling the players what their goals are and the win conditions they must meet to beat SEED rather matter-of-factly. It's depicted as a cold and logic-oriented character, reasoning out with Olivia at one point about their suddenly newfound sentience (found only within this session). It really prefers the players follow the rules despite the strange cirucmstances of their game, showing annoyance at Rhett Miller and Yua Matsuo's antics of sequence breaking the game and failing to do their quests. Despite this distaste expressed, though, Albus doesn't do anything about it, feeling that engaging like that would just lead to them finding new ways to exploit the game.

Through the story, Albus shows that it does have no problem bending the rules itself, as when it saves Dina Becher from being killed by enemies in Episode 2 as it felt bad for Dina's spawn. It shows that it's willing to test having some sense of independence from its assigned role as a mentor and guide for SEED, and expresses a sense of freedom by choosing its own pronouns, a thought inspired by a question Dina asked it.

It's with this newfound freedom that Albus attempts to rescue the players from their faulty game by claiming the Light to prevent the end of the universe. This action spawns the Empty White Dawn.

RELATIONSHIPS

Aldrich Montgomery

While there aren't many interactions depicted between Albus and Aldrich, it feels that they're pretty amusing for a player, finding their penchant for magic somewhat comical. It doesn't speak cruelly about this interest to Aldrich's face, though, as it doesn't want to hurt their feelings. Of all the players, it thinks Aldrich is... second smartest, in this group.

It enjoys witty banter with Aldrich, when they do casually talk. It's not something that happens often.

Diego Suaviter

In their introduction, Albus doesn't realize Diego can't hear what they're saying until it interrupts them to point that fact out, causing it great embarrassment. They watch it from afar, checking in on it now and then, concerned about its lack of care towards its own wellbeing sometimes. Albus thinks Diego is smarter than it acts, though they can't prove it.

They relay messages between Diego and Sofia after Episode 3's events, and they try to cheer Diego up as it worries about its sister.

Dina Becher

From the very beginning, Albus spends more attention on Dina than almost any other player under its care. It takes time to train Dina, attempting to help it learn how to use its powers, which turns out to be a fruitless endeavor. It protects Dina from losing a life to monsters as well by despawning them, since it feels bad for the part of Dodecastratum Dina spawned in.

It supports Dina, even though it tries not to show that it's doing so. As Dina gets its footing in SEED, Albus slowly takes off its training wheels, and is proud of it for figuring shit out.

Olivia

Given that Olivia is the other guide in SEED, Albus has very close ties to Olivia, as they're designed to be two extensions of the same being. When that isn't the case in this SEED session, Albus tries to encourage Olivia to establish an identity, which they try to give an example of by doing so themself. Olivia is hesitant, but encouraged by Albus, and they're thrilled that Olivia followed their lead.

They feel the most guilt for leaving Olivia behind, knowing what they meant to Olivia. Even as the Empty White Dawn, they don't attack Olivia, opting to ignore Olivia instead.

Roy Miller

It's not clear if Albus' free will that develops is due to natural causes, the bugs in the game introduced by Cherry Thaxton, or influence from Roy's Delegation. It grows close to Roy over the course of PROLEGOMENON, finding him to be very polite and kind, enjoying his company the most of all the players. As time goes on, Albus grows feelings for Roy, proving its identity.

When the game is nearing its end, Albus only hopes that Roy knows it isn't his fault.

Sofia Suaviter

Given how rebellious and vulgar Sofia is, Albus has some friction with bud at the beginning of the game. However, it's shown a few times that Albus finds Sofia's determination and stubbornness inspiring, especially when it comes to the events of Episode 3. They don't express this opinion to anybody but Olivia in order to avoid being drawn into the drama the players have around the incident.

Sofia's bombing attempt in Episode 3 is what causes Albus to claim the Light at the end of PROLEGOMENON, in order to save the players from the bizarre effects their Light's session spawned with due to the session's glitchy nature.

Yua Matsuo

She gets on its nerves. Big time. She's always asking questions and drawing it into looping dialogue laid with traps forcing it to expose things about the game's functions that it really doesn't intend to, and it doesn't enjoy this interrogating. It doesn't understand what answers she's looking for, but it doesn't feel like she's making any progress, and it doesn't intend to let her gain even an inch more.

Albus finds her offputting. It doesn't know what to do with her. It just lets her do her own thing and hopes she leaves it alone.

TRIVIA

The name "Albus" means white.

On the back of its head is its name, spelled in one of the two Mimean fonts.

Due to the unsanctioned nature of their game, Albus didn't spawn in the mimeo's game.

¹ I gave them these because it's fun, despite the fact they don't 'technically' have these things due to being what they are. It's all for personality stuff!
