Anne Yvolve (aka "Ghost") is a young woman living in UV-00282 Portland.

She has short, dark brown hair, darker brown eyes, and light brown skin. Her face is round, and she's a little on the chubbier side. She wears a little pink bow to pin her bangs out of her face, which matches with the shirt she wears - a longer, tunic-like pink shirt, with a darker pink heart on the chest and a ribbon around the waist. Under this she wears white leggings and, throughout Deadheading, dark brown leather boots.

Anne's friend from high school, Otto Gardener, invites her and a few other mutual friends to a camping trip in the woods, to which she accepts, leading to the events of Deadheading.

PERSONALITY

Anne is best described as well-meaning, but timid. She clearly loves her friends a lot, even when they don't seem to share the same warmth - she worries about their wellbeing often, and makes sure to check in and see if there's anything she can do to help them when they need it. A great deal of Anne's time is spent wishing she was spending time with those she cares about, and when she does get these rare times to happen, she cherishes them deeply. She was very lonely as a child, which has led her to a compulsive need to fulfill any wishes of those around her, even at the cost of her own identity and/or happiness.

She worries a lot about being too annoying, and pushing her friends away from her. Her parents were and continue to be distant since she was born, and she goes through life terrified that those around her will leave her eventually. Otto leaving for college only reaffirmed her fears, and has caused her to grow clingier and more emotional when spending time with those she loves.

Anne's personality is changed depending on the player's actions throughout the game.

TIMELINE

Pre-Deadheading

In the last dwindlings of summer in 2000, Anne is born to two parents who don't particularly want her. She's the youngest of four children, and her family's energies, attention, and resources had already gone towards raising and caring for the first three, leaving her with scraps. Her siblings don't spend much time with her either, given how much older than her they are, and she's left to fend for herself a great deal of the time in life.

After Anne moves to Portland halfway through freshman year, she meets Otto in high school, and (through them) Pat Syve and Arthur Taron. While the other two don't particularly seem to like her, Anne follows Otto around like a lost puppy for the rest of high school until they graduate and move away for college.

Anne is too shy to reach out to her other friends to see if they'd like to spend time together, so she picks up a job at the local library in her neighborhood to keep herself social.

Deadheading

In 2019, Anne gets a text from Otto, inviting her out to go camping with them while they're home from school. She accepts the invitation and goes out into the woods.

Anne cuts her legs on some thorns on the team's walk to the campsite, so when they arrive, Otto patches her leg up with band-aids and assures her that it's okay to be someone who's more emotional than others. This cheers her up, though she's immediately frightened by Pat's enthusiasm for starting the campfire and telling spooky stories. Otto tells a story about a ghost who fell in love with a psychic, only to learn the psychic was a ghost too, giving them a happy ending. Anne wishes she had somebody who would stay with her no matter what like that.

After nightfall, noises outside the tent wake Anne up, and the others. She and Otto leave the tent to investigate what sounds like footsteps. While walking through the woods, Anne asks Otto if they think she's annoying, and if they hate her. They reassure her that they don't, and anybody who did would be missing out on a great friend. Anne is comforted, telling Otto that they're one of her best friends too, and the two return to the tent after confirming there's no bears.

When the trip ends, Anne confesses she'd like to spend more time with the others, and plans to go camping again.

Post-Deadheading

Anne returns to civilization, though she plans another camping trip with Arthur and Pat again, thanks to Otto's help. Pat brings some friends along this time, and though they're noisy and kind of rude, Anne finds them funny and starts spending more time with them too. Even though Otto goes back to school a few weeks after the trip, Anne's made enough of a friend group that she doesn't suffer from their disappearance, though she stays in close touch with them just because she cares.

RELATIONSHIPS

Otto Gardener

When Anne moved in high school, Otto was the first friend she managed to maintain despite her shy nature. She has something of a crush on Otto, though it's nothing she'd actually ever act on - that's way too much to expect! She gets nauseous at night about the idea of making Otto mad or upset, even on accident. At their encouragement, she started joining book clubs to get to know new people, and has been flirting with a nice girl thanks to the bravery Otto loaned her.

She thinks Otto is the smartest person on earth, at least when it comes to relationships.

Arthur Taron

Anne met Arthur through Otto, which means she has a hard time reaching out to him outside of talking through Otto. She thinks he's very smart and impressive, due to his family's status and his clear-cut career future... though she doesn't realize this isn't his true dream until post-game. She supports him loudly and proudly when his first book is published.

He's kind to her, though she gets the impression that he's just humoring her sometimes. When Pat gets mean, he steps in, which she appreciates.

Pat Syve

When Pat gets too far into a bit, Anne finds it kind of annoying that she can't tell them to knock it off. They aren't always rude to her, not in a genuine way, but sometimes their ribbing is really upsetting to her. She has a hard time standing up for herself due to her fears and anxieties, however, though when she voices these to Pat they say they sound stupid.

She doesn't quite understand them, due to how different the two are, but she tries her best to get through.

TRIVIA

Anne has over two thousand hours in Animal Crossing: New Leaf.

While she's shy about her hobby, Anne does do knitting.

She actually hates the outdoors, but she puts up with it for her friends.
